This is the cradle hold. This hold can be used from birth on up.
To get your baby into the cradle carry, hold your baby in a high cradle in your arms.
Now grab the outside edge of the sling and start lowering the baby's bottom into the sling. Make sure you are grabbing the outside edge of the sling and make sure the other edge is against you and on the other side of the baby.
Next put the baby's legs down into the sling. The baby's legs can be froggy style or crossed. The baby will fit right into the sling, like in a pocket.
Put the baby's legs all the way in. Notice that the seam on the sling is down by the baby's legs. The baby might seemed smooshed, but that will be okay and the baby will let you know if they are uncomfortable.
Lastly lean the baby all the way back into the sling and bring up the outside edge. The baby should be all snuggly in there against you and should be sitting in the "pocket".
This is the Kangaroo hold. It can be used from 2-3 months and up.
Start out holding the baby just as you did in the cradle carry. Hold the legs with one hand and the body with your other hand/arm.
Grab the outside edge with one hand and support the baby with your other hand and arm.
Put the baby all the way in the "pocket". The baby's legs will be crossed in front indian style. Notice that the seam is right in the front of the baby. You can put your baby's arms in or leave them out, which ever you prefer.
To do the kangaroo hold facing in, also know as tummy-to-tummy, start out the same was as the cradle carry, but with the baby facing you.
Get the baby all the way in, and they will be sitting indian style facing you. Make sure the baby is sitting in the "pocket". Notice that the seam is right in the middle of the baby's back.
