Hip Carry
The hands-free way to carry your baby on your hip!
/i//web_hip_carry.jpg The hip carry is recommend for babies 6 months and up. The baby should have good head/neck/upper body control. Please use your own judgement when doing this carry.

To start out, you need to throw your baby up on your shoulder. You need to have access to your baby's legs in order to bring them through the pouch. My daugter loves when I do this, as I make a game of it and she smiles and laughes!

Next you have to put both of your baby's legs through the pouch. You'll notice that I am reaching under to help bring her legs through.

Now both of her legs are through and on either side of my hip.

Now grab both edges of the pouch. I am grabbing both the top and bottom, and pulling on them to get her correctly in the pouch. Make sure that the seam of the pouch will be directly in the middle of your baby's back.

Now your baby will be sitting in the pouch all comfy and ready to go! Notice that her knees are higher than her behind. This insures comfort for you and your baby.

This is how the back of the pouch should look. It is flat against my back.

/i//web_hip_carry6.jpg To do the back carry, all you have to do is lift your arm up and slide your baby around. This is a great way to carry your baby when you need both hands free without the baby on your front!

The back carry is not recommend for babies under 15 months of age. Please take extreme caution when doing this carry!
